Our Mission:
Our mission as School Counselors at Madison High School is to provide a comprehensive counseling program that attends to the personal/social, academic, and career/college preparation and planning needs of all students. Our services include group and individual counseling, academic support, crisis intervention, career and college planning, as well as student and family advocacy. Our goal is to promote a commitment to life-long learning, personal and academic growth, and to aid our students in becoming responsible, culturally aware, and productive members of society. This foundation for this will be supported and strengthened through collaboration with our fellow educators, administrators, parents, and community advocates.

Seniors are receiving scholarship notifications to their student email as those become available. Hard copies of all available applications are also available in the Student Services office.

The A.S.P.I.R.E. program is designed to bridge deficits in rural high school students’ performance on the ACT College Entrance Examination in order to increase the number of students pursuing higher education.

College Foundation of North Carolina
The College Foundation of North Carolina website has a wealth of information on preparing for and applying to colleges (particularly colleges in North Carolina). Search this information for scholarships, financial aid information, college profiles, and online applications to the 16 public universities in the UNC system.

Federal Application for Federal Student Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the application that provides colleges with the information they need to administer their financial aid programs. In order to complete the application, both the parent and the student will need to apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) at www.pin.ed.gov.

NCAA Eligibility
In order to initiate the eligibility process, you need to complete the NCAA Clearinghouse Student Release Form. You need to submit this form at the end of your junior year or the beginning of your senior year. After you complete the form, you should mail the white form with a check for the fee and then give the yellow and pink copies to your guidance counselor so that your transcript can be sent to the Clearinghouse.
