The Technology Department is responsible for ensuring system wide technology is properly planned for, implemented, and maintained in our school system to support 21st Century educational processes and the day-to-day business operations. Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to, support of the wide area network (WAN) and each school's local area network (LAN), servers, Internet connectivity and security, 21st Century educational hardware and software, desktop and laptop PC maintenance, technology training, web services, fiber optics and internal wiring. Other broader duties include:

  • Establish and maintain technology standards
  • Manage expenditures for hardware, software and services
  • Manage technology supplier relationships
  • Establish and maintain a staff of skilled employees to support technology
  • Development and management of preventive tech support practices
  • Work with NC Department of Public Instruction to ensure that county needs are met
