Welcome and Thanks for Visiting our Website! On behalf of the faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome to you Madison Middle School. We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to many successful and productive experiences in learning. Our goal is to work together to provide every child with the best education possible.

Madison Middle School serves approximately 500 students in Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grades.  I feel very fortunate to be the principal at Madison Middle School and look forward to serving the teachers, students, parents and Madison County.

I am a Madison County native, graduate of Madison High School.  I began my career with Buncombe County Schools as a teacher at North Buncombe Elementary School where I taught kindergarten, first and third grades.  I then served as an Elementary Instructional Coach for four years, providing professional development and support to teachers in numerous elementary schools across Buncombe County.  I transitioned into school administration in 2012, serving as the Assistant Principal at W.W. Estes Elementary in Buncombe County.  In June 2015, I was fortunate enough to be named Principal at Brush Creek Elementary School in Madison County.  It was an honor to continue my career in a community that has always been near and dear to my heart. In 2019, I was named Instructional Improvement Director for Madison County Schools where I worked with K-8 Curriculum.  I will use the knowledge and experiences I have gained in each of these positions to lead Madison Middle School as principal.

Please feel free to email me, mponder@madisonk12.net, or call the school. More information will be shared in the days ahead regarding the logistics of reopening under Plan B guidelines, what our school day will look like, and how we will provide your child with the best education possible.
