Free and Reduced Price Meal Benefits

Madison County Schools participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). NSLP is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.


Children from households that meet Federal income guidelines are eligible for free or reduced price meals. Families may apply to participate in the program at any time during the school year. You can pick up an application from your school cafeteria or from the Child Nutrition Services Department in the Central Office. Only one application per family is required. To apply for free or reduced meals, complete and sign the Meal Benefits application and return it to the school cafeteria or the Child Nutrition Services Department in the Central Office.
