Julie Young is the 2018-2019 MCS Teacher of the Year
Madison County Teacher of the Year for 2018-2019
Julie Young, teacher at Madison Early College High School, has been named Madison County Schools Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year. Julie has taught English at MECHS for four years. Julie holds a Masters in English Literature from the University of Southern Mississippi and is licensed in grades 6th-12th. She is also National Boards Certified. Julie has taught in public education for 28 years, including Haywood County, Buncombe County, and the state of Mississippi. Julie also is an adjunct English instructor at A-B Tech Community College. Julie resides with her husband and twin daughters in the Marshall area.
Julie is a committed educator who leads in the profession. She is always going above and beyond to assist her colleagues and support her students. Julie is an Instructional Coach and leads Professional Development Sessions, including Project Based Learning this past school year. Julie serves on the following committees for her school and school system: School Improvement Team, Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council, Hearing Board, English I Committee, and Wilma Dykeman Literacy Team.
