North Carolina's First Lady Kristin Cooper Visits Madison Middle School
North Carolina's First Lady, Kristin Cooper, visited Madison County Schools on Tuesday September 11th in conjunction with Governor Roy Cooper's Annual School Supply Drive. Ms. Cooper was hosted by Madison County School Superintendent Dr. Will Hoffman and Principal Nicholas Honeycutt along with his administrative staff. Also visiting with Ms. Cooper were regional and local representatives from the NC State Employees Credit Union. Ms. Cooper was given a tour of the school and spent time with the Student Services staff discussing student needs that go unfulfilled because of funding gaps in the system.
After the school tour Ms. Cooper was entertained by Nicole Willis' Dance and Drama Club who performed for the First Lady. Ms. Cooper then shared her appreciation upon the Dance Team relating, "her daughters had been dancers all through their school years!" Beta Club members were also on hand to hear Ms. Cooper comment on the overall beauty of the school setting and the learning environment at Madison Middle School. Ms. Cooper stated that numerous donations of school supplies across North Carolina at our NCSEU branches are being distributed to systems throughout the state. There are 17 boxes of school supplies designated for Madison County students.
